Before you put yourself “Out There”… Do You have the Edge?

Here’s how to get it!

“You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him.” John Maxwell

If you really want to “get out there” – make sure your packaging is tight. Work on the outside packaging as well as the “inside package.” If not, you’ll be hiring a publicist to do crisis PR for you because you’ll need someone to do reputation management. And it’s harder to stop bad press than to create good press!

So, what is the Edge? It’s that “IT” factor that propels success in life. Do you have it? People who have the Edge share a number of characteristics. They are successful, but never at the expense of others. They are people who genuinely love and care about others. They abide by the Golden Rule and excellence (not perfection) is their goal.

They are long-term survivors in the business world, which has a way of devouring its own. They survive because they maintain friends. Relationships are the key to their success. They know more than networking. They connect with others and click!

Here are some of the qualities that can help you develop the Edge – which is essential before any PR campaign is to begin.

1. DEPENDABILITY. Do what you say you will do

2. TRUSTWORTHINESS.
You may hear gossip, but you do not have to pass it along. Don’t spread something that is confidential.

3. RESPONSIBILITY. People with the Edge accept responsibility for their actions and don’t blame others if they fail.

4. COMMUNICATION. Keep in touch. Call people back.

5. GENEROSITY. Make a habit of being generous and kind. Do things for free without expecting a return for it. Volunteer.

6. COURTESY AND KINDNESS. If you can’t pray about it – don’t talk about. Speak well of people or do not speak at all!

7. INTEGRITY AND ETHICS. If you can’t do it in front of your child, then don’t do.

8. PERSISTENCE. No one is ever a success in life unless they know how to persist. This is probably the most single way to get the EDGE!

Victory is assured to those who endure – until the end. Almost everyone has one good idea, one good effort, one good impulse. People with the Edge prove themselves by repeatedly being willing to do what others will not. They are not quitters. They are relentless and will try every angle and research every opportunity – and because they are relationship driven – will enlist the help of their friends.

Before you think a good photo, brochure, corporate logo, website and press kit will give you the Edge – think again. The Edge is takes time to develop. Character counts and it starts on the inside.

No amount of PR can promote the right message if you don’t have the right interior motives. It takes time to become that sharp, so you might as well start now: in business, you are only as good as your relationships – with God, Yourself and others.

Personal Reflections on the commentary surrounding President Barack Obama’s Speech in Cairo, Egypt June 4, 2009

MOST PEOPLE WANT A TWO-STATE SOLUTION,
SO WHY CAN’T IT HAPPEN?

When did the constant tension between the Israeli and Palestinian people begin? Some would say that the dispute stems all the way to Biblical times and the tribes created by Abraham’s offspring, Isaac and Ishmael.

Others believe that the 1917 Balfour Declaration, in which Palestine was granted to Britain as a place to settle the Jews, was the real starting point to the turmoil. Then, there are those who argue that the lines drawn when the state of Israel was established by the United Nations in 1948 constitute the turning point which escalated the strife.

Whatever the cause of the division might be, many leaders argue that only a two-state solution will bring an end to the tension between the two groups.

However, an agreement to divide the land into two nations is easier said than done. Whether the views of each side are based in fact or baseless propaganda, the tension has led to everything from skirmishes between schoolchildren and farmers to razed homes to deadly missile attacks.

Despite a high level of distrust stemming from both sides of this dispute, the reality shown by multiple polls is that the majority of both Israelis and Palestinians favor a two-state solution as the best way to resolve, or at least considerably lessen, the animosity that exists between their peoples. In order for such a compromise to be reached, several factors need to be resolved.

Who is the rightful owner of Jerusalem, a city that has such reverent significance to all three of the major religions in the world? What right do Palestinian refugees have to the land they were forced to flee when Israel was conceived?

Should Israelis be allowed to keep settlements that expanded into the West Bank? Which government would get to lay claim to the natural resources, namely water, that are so prized in that region? Interested parties from across the globe have taken part in numerous meetings in an attempt to put these questions to rest and move forward with creating a region in which two groups can peacefully co-exist.

So far, the peace that has been brokered has only ever been temporary and has yet to settle decisively the key questions that must be answered in order for real progress to be made.

While the primary focus of this conflict seems to be on the Muslims and Jews who live in the area, the Christian population in Israel certainly has a stake in the outcome. And, there is no doubt that Christians worldwide have strong feelings on the matter as well.

In the new release, Alone with a Jihadist: A Biblical Response to Holy War, author Aaron Taylor recounts his meeting in London with a prominent jihadist named Khalid. Taylor, a missionary and evangelist who had long-held beliefs concerning America’s mandate to spread freedom and Christianity, came away from the encounter with a complete transformation in his world view. He now holds the belief, based on his reading of the Scripture, that Christians are taught to
practice pacifism.

Taylor uses part of Alone with a Jihadist: A Biblical Response to Holy War to focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and asserts, with extensive documentation, that the dangerously one-sided Zionist theology practiced by many fundamentalist Christians within and outside of government is antithetical to the call for peace and brotherhood made by Christ.

Alone with a Jihadist: A Biblical Response to Holy War will be released in October 2009.

The Three "P's" Why Video Needs to Be in Your Ministry Marketing Plan

Pam Perry being taped at Book Expo America by BSHANI TELEVISION.

By Guest Blogger: Theresa Croft

So why video? Why would you want to include online videos in your ministry marketing or business advertising plan?

I have such a passion to see people use the tools available online to promote their gifts and callings on the internet. Video is one of those passions.

So here are the Three P's why video should be considered seriously as you begin to find ways online to make contacts, promote your music or ministry, or to use it as a business marketing option. The three p's center on:

1. The POWER of video online

Recent studies by the Wharton School of Business for one, show that video boosts comprehension and retention by 50% over live presentations. Another study illustrates the fact that video increases a viewers memory or recall of information shown to them by 50% over print material. Video is shown to convert a potential customer three times higher than printed material.

Ann Sieg just released her latest amazing E-Book called The Attraction Marketers Manifesto, where she quotes some astounding statistics about the internet.

For one, she states, "People are starting to use the internet more than they watch tv..or even read the newspaper."

She quotes a powerful fact from a recent Jupiter research report that found that more than 25% of the people they studied have cut back on watching TV...so they can spend more time on the internet.

"On top of that," Ann writes, "18% of people in the study said they were reading newspapers less and getting more information on the internet instead."

She concludes with the obvious fact, "Thanks to the internet, you can now get your message in front of more prospects than ever before in the history of the world."

So why are people watching less television to be online? To watch videos, podcasts, and live streaming on the internet! The number of videos being uploaded at YouTube, just one of many video sites, are staggering.

2. Passion

Another reason why video needs to be included in your ministry marketing plan is the power of passion. Video is one tool where people can really see your passion. If you really enjoy something and it seems time just flies by when you're involved with that activity, it probably means you are quite passionate about the subject or object.

I used to have a passion for playing golf. I'd get up as a teenager at 5:00 am just to hit golf balls on the range before going to school.

I had another passion about riding my Harley-Davidson a while back. I'd ride it to work or anywhere I could think. If I could get a gallon of milk in my saddle bag, I would ride it to the grocery store. I read everything I could about motorcycles, and wrote quite a few short novels about my adventures riding all over the South East, with my husband. (I have a HD Fatboy; he has a HD Road Glide).

With video you can take the knowledge and passion you have and make a visual connection to create a lasting impression. You can connect emotionally, personally, showing forth your own integrity. You can't fake passion. You build trust as you share your knowledge and passion.

3. Prepare

Finally, the reason why video is one of the biggest success factors to online promotion is it prepare your viewer to receive more valuable content from you. You can impact them emotionally creating a lasting memory of you. You can give them a call to action to go to a specific link for more information. You can blend your message and personality giving them a desire to want more from you.

For example, you could be a traveling evangelist sharing the Word with your video ministry. Someone could see you and think "Hey, this man or woman is so anointed. I want him/her to come to my church and preach."

So, now you can see three simple key reasons why video needs to be on your ministry or business advertising agenda. But you may ask HOW?

One solution could be the new The Easy Video Producer, which you can incorporate in your ministry marketing online. This simple online software is not only free and easy to use, but also gives you templates and embedded codes to put that video onto your own ministry pages, Facebook, Shoutlife, or on your blog.

Now is your time to go forward by using video in your ministry marketing plan as you go in the direction of your destiny!
